Ingredients

  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon Better Than Bouillon Roasted Chicken Base or 1/2 chicken bouillon cube
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/8 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1/8 teaspoon rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 pinch of salt, to taste optional

Instructions

  • Add the chicken broth, Better Than Bouillon, onion powder, garlic powder, dried thyme, dried sage, rosemary, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, and bay leaf to a saucepan.
  • Place the saucepan on the stove over medium heat and bring the ingredients to a simmer. Whisk continuously and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  • Carefully remove the bay leaf from the saucepan. Then, mix the cornstarch with equal parts cold water in a bowl. After that, pour the cornstarch slurry into the saucepan and whisk. Continue to whisk while the gravy simmers for at least 5 minutes or until the gravy thickens and reaches the desired consistency.
  • Taste the gravy once it has cooled and add a pinch of salt if needed. Then, transfer the gravy to a heat-safe container. Enjoy and store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Storage: Store leftover gravy in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Or, let it cool completely and freeze it in a freezer safe-container. Leave room in the container and freeze for 1-2 months.
  • Chicken Broth: This chicken gravy is made with low-sodium chicken broth. If you don’t have low-sodium broth, you can use regular chicken broth but don’t add any salt to the recipe.
  • More Intense Flavor: If you want a more intense flavor, you can add another 1/2 teaspoon of Better Than Bouillon.
