How To Make Double Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients for double chocolate chip cookies

Start by sifting the dry ingredients (flour, cocoa powder, and baking soda). Then, mix all of the dry ingredients.

Next, add the monk fruit or sugar, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt to the bowl. Make sure to thoroughly mix all of the ingredients.

In another large bowl, add the room temperature butter and egg. Then, add the applesauce and vanilla to the bowl. I recommend using an electric hand mixer to mix the ingredients. Mix the wet ingredients and then add the dry ingredients a little at a time. Continue to mix and then add the rest of the dry ingredients. Mix until all of the ingredients are combined.

After everything is mixed, scoop out the batter and combine the ingredients with a spatula to make sure everything is combined. After that, fold in the chocolate chips. Begin scooping the cookie dough onto a silicone baking mat or parchment paper. I like to use a melon bar scooper so that the cookies all come out the same size.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 8 to 10 minutes and enjoy!

A Few Notes & Tips

Why Add The Chocolate Chips?

The chocolate chips add so much chocolate flavor to these cookies and they’re not to be missed! The mini chocolate chips are great because they disperse chocolate flavor throughout the cookie. With the mini chocolate chips, you get a burst of chocolate flavor in every bite!

Why Sift The Ingredients for These Double Chocolate Chip Cookies?

It’s not completely necessary to sift the dry ingredients, but it makes it so that the ingredients combine better. Also, it helps make the cookies more light and fluffy.

Why Use Applesauce in These Double Chocolate Chip Cookies?

Applesauce is a helpful replacement for part of the butter in this recipe. It’s great because by adding applesauce, you don’t have to add as much butter. Also, it makes the cookies super moist! Make sure to use applesauce that doesn’t have added sugar.
