We’re Shawna and Ella, the dynamic mother-daughter duo behind Healthy Foodie Girl, where delicious meets healthy in every bite! Here at Healthy Foodie Girl, we have easy, delicious, healthy recipes and tips that we know you’re going to love!

All of our recipes are easy to make and packed with flavor while being lightened up. Here you’ll find a wide range of healthy dishes, from high-protein meals and cottage cheese recipes to delicious oat recipes, effortless air fryer favorites, and lightened-up Italian classics.


About Shawna Clark

Hi, I’m Shawna, the founder, recipe developer, and chef behind Healthy Foodie Girl. I combine professional training, hands-on experience, and a lifelong passion for food to create recipes that are easy, flavorful, and healthy. Here’s a snapshot of my culinary expertise and experience!

  • Recipe Developer & Chef: I create healthy and delicious recipes that anyone can make and enjoy!
  • Culinary Training & Experience: I trained in professional culinary programs in California and studied traditional cooking methods in Italy.
  • Food Media Collaboration: Working with The Food Network, photographers, and set designers taught me the art of recipe development, food styling, and creating dishes that are as visually appealing as they are delicious.
  • WSET Certification: I’m certified in wine and beverage studies, which has given me a deep understanding of flavor profiles, pairing, and balance that informs recipe development and elevates taste in every dish.
  • Global Culinary Inspiration: My travels and exploration of international cuisines inspire recipes that bring exciting, global flavors straight to your kitchen.
  • WW-Friendly Recipes: As a lifetime WW member, I design recipes that are low in points and easy to track, making healthy eating approachable and enjoyable.

Our Story:

Inspiring Healthy Eating Journeys

I’ve always been passionate about food and creating healthy recipes. This enthusiasm sparked countless conversations about cooking and healthy eating, with people frequently seeking my advice on how to prepare different ingredients or what to make with them. Sharing my love for food has become a natural and fulfilling part of my life.

I knew I wanted to start a food blog, but it wasn’t until Ella said, “Mom, think of all the people you could help,” that Healthy Foodie Girl was truly born. In that moment, I realized that my passion for food could become something bigger – a way to inspire and support others on their own healthy eating journeys.

What started as a solo endeavor soon blossomed into something even more incredible when I discovered that Ella’s passion for cooking was just as strong as mine. We began working together, and now Healthy Foodie Girl is a true mother-daughter venture. Sharing this experience with my daughter has been the most amazing journey. Cooking together has always been a special part of our lives, but now, being able to connect with so many others through our blog and YouTube channel has made it even more meaningful.

It allows me to indulge in my favorite treats, like cheese and baguettes, while staying on track. My philosophy is that food is all about balance and moderation, so WW works perfectly for me.
