Chocolate covered blueberries are the best delicious and easy treat! We were inspired to create this recipe because we had just gotten back from the farmer’s market and picked up some fresh blueberries. Also, we had some chocolate bars and we wanted to make a delicious treat. This was perfect because the flavors of blueberries and chocolate compliment each other very well. Also, as you may know, Ella loves chocolate! We loved these chocolate blueberries so much that she has been making them all the time and we wanted to share them with you.

How To Make Chocolate Covered Blueberries

To make chocolate covered blueberries, start by finely chopping the chocolate bar. Then, fill a saucepan with 1-2 inches of water, bring it to a boil, and place a heat-resistant bowl on top. After that, mix the chocolate in the bowl the entire time and reduce the heat to a simmer. Next, remove the chocolate from the heat when there are a few chunks left so the chocolate doesn’t burn. Place the bowl on a towel and continue to mix the chocolate.
Then, add the blueberries to the bowl and mix them in the chocolate. After that, place them on a sheet pan with parchment paper. If you would like, enjoy them plain or top with some finishing sea salt (affiliate link) or unsweetened coconut flakes (affiliate link). Lastly, let the chocolate covered blueberries chill in the fridge and enjoy!

Notes & Tips For Chocolate Covered Blueberries
Make Sure Your Blueberries Are Completely Dry Before Using
For these chocolate covered blueberries, we didn’t wash the blueberries before mixing them with the chocolate. However, if you choose to wash your blueberries, make sure they are completely dry unless the chocolate won’t stick to the blueberries.
The Best Chocolates To Melt
I have found that high-quality chocolate bars are the best to melt. My favorite chocolates to use are Ghirardelli melting wafers (affiliate link) and Trader Joe’s chocolate bars. If you want a sugar-free chocolate option, Lily’s chocolate bars (affiliate link) are great.
Don’t Get Any Water In The Chocolate
Make sure not to get any water into the chocolate because it will seize up! So, be mindful not to get water in the chocolate when you are mixing it on the stove. I like to put the bowl on a towel after I take it off the stove to absorb any moisture stuck to the bottom of the bowl.
How Many Blueberries Should I Use?
In this recipe, we have given you the option to use 1/2 – 1 CUP of blueberries. If you use 1/2 CUP of blueberries, they will be completely and thoroughly coated in the chocolate. If you use 1 CUP of blueberries, they will still be covered in chocolate but not completely.

THE BEST CHOCOLATE COVERED BLUEBERRIES

Ingredients
- 1.75 ounce chocolate bar (we used a Trader Joe's dark chocolate bar)
- 1/2-1 cup blueberries
- finishing sea salt (we like Jacobsen), optional
- unsweetened flaked coconut, optional
Instructions
- Finely chop the chocolate bar so it melts evenly and quickly.
- Fill a saucepan with 1-2 inches of water and bring it to a boil on the stove. Put a heat-resistant bowl on top of the saucepan with boiling water and reduce the heat to a simmer.
- Mix the chocolate in the bowl the entire time so it doesn’t burn. Make sure not to get any water in the chocolate unless it will seize and become unusable. Remove the bowl from the stove when there are still a few chunks of chocolate left so it doesn’t burn. Then, place the bowl on a towel to absorb any moisture and finish mixing the chocolate.
- Add the blueberries to the bowl and mix them in the chocolate. Use ½ CUP of blueberries if you want them fully covered or 1 CUP of blueberries if you don’t want them completely covered. Optional: Add some finishing sea salt or unsweetened flaked coconut to the chocolate covered blueberries.
- Place the blueberries on a sheet pan with parchment paper and let them cool. Or, place them in the fridge to chill. They are best enjoyed if they are chilled for 45 minutes to 1 hour. This hardens the chocolate and makes them taste great!
