How To Make Cottage Cheese Bagels
Step 1: Add the flour, baking powder, and salt to a large mixing bowl.

Then, thoroughly mix.

Step 2: Add the cottage cheese to the bowl with the flour mixture. Mix in the cottage cheese and then use your hands to knead the dough.

Thoroughly knead the dough until incorporated.

Step 3: Cut the dough into four even pieces.

After that, roll each piece into a ball. From there, form it into the shape of a bagel and poke a hole in the center of each.

Step 4: Place the formed bagels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Step 5: Crack the egg in a bowl and whisk it. Then, brush the egg wash over all the bagels. Next, sprinkle everything bagel seasoning on top of the bagels.

Step 7: Once done, remove them from the oven and let them cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving them.
How To Air Fry Cottage Cheese Bagels
You can also air fry these cottage cheese bagels! Place a parchment paper liner in the air fryer basket or lightly spray it with oil.

Then, air fry the bagels at 300°F for 15-17 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through. After that, let the bagels cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.

Serving Suggestions
Serve cottage cheese bagels as you would regular bagels. They are delicious with butter, cream cheese, or truffle parmesan cream cheese. You can even make a bagel sandwich and stuff them with your favorite ingredients. For another idea, slice and toast the bagel and add mashed avocado, sliced tomatoes, and a sprinkle of sea salt. A few slices of smoked salmon would be delicious, as well. Or, make an egg salad sandwich with these bagels and our cottage cheese egg salad! You could even make a breakfast bagel sandwich with cottage cheese scrambled eggs, cheese, and cooked chopped bacon or turkey bacon.
Expert Tips
- Don’t Strain The Cottage Cheese: With our recipe, you don’t need to strain the cottage cheese! Simply add it to the bowl with the flour and knead.
- Correctly Measure Flour: We recommend measuring the flour with a food scale to ensure you have the correct amount. You should have 1 cup of flour, which is 120 grams. Use the spoon and level method if you don’t have a food scale.
- Mix The Flour Mixture: Thoroughly mix the flour, baking powder, and salt to ensure the ingredients are evenly distributed before adding the cottage cheese.
- Fresh Baking Powder: Use fresh baking powder so the bagels rise. Check to make sure your baking powder isn’t expired.
- Let The Bagels Cool: Once done, let the bagels cool for at least 15 minutes. They need time to cool and rest after baking. You can always toast the bagels once cooled and sliced to enjoy them warm.
How To Store Cottage Cheese Bagels
Once the bagels have cooled, you can slice them so they are easy to toast again later. Or, leave them whole. Store leftover cottage cheese bagels in an airtight container or bag, or tightly wrap them in foil. They will last for 3-4 days in the refrigerator. When ready to serve them again, reheat them in the oven or air fryer.

What’s your opinion on using Oat Flour?
Hi, we haven’t tested these cottage cheese bagels with oat flour, but you could try substituting it. Just keep in mind that it may result in a more crumbly bagel mixture, so additional cottage cheese may be needed to achieve the desired dough consistency. If you give it a try let us know how it goes, we hope you enjoy these bagels!
These are super easy to make and great to add for snack or breakfast to get some extra protein in. I add different seasoning to mix up the flavor.
