How To Make French Onion Dip With Greek Yogurt

Step 1: Cut each onion in half. Then, cut each half and slice the onion into 1/4-inch pieces.

Step 2: Add the butter, sliced onions, oregano, garlic powder, pepper, and half of the salt to the pan. Let the ingredients sauté in the pan over low heat. Allow the onions to caramelize for 30-45 minutes and mix occasionally.

Step 3: Add the balsamic glaze to the pan with the caramelized onions. Then, mix and continue to caramelize for another 1-2 minutes.

Step 4: Remove the pan from the heat and let the caramelized onions cool.

Step 5: Add the 0-fat Greek yogurt, Worcestershire sauce, remaining salt, chopped chives, and cooled caramelized onions to a bowl. Then, thoroughly mix. Next, transfer the dip to an airtight container and let it refrigerate before serving.

  • 2 medium onions, white, sweet, or brown

  • 1 teaspoon light butter

  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

  • 1 CUP 0-fat Greek yogurt

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives

  • 1 teaspoon milk, or more for a thinner dip (optional)

  • Add the butter to a pan over low heat on the stove. Then, add the sliced onions, oregano, garlic powder, pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt (set aside the remaining 1/4 teaspoon) to the pan. Let the ingredients sauté in the pan over low heat to caramelize the onions. Mix the onions occasionally. Be patient and allow the onions to caramelize for 30-45 minutes or until the onions are golden brown.
  • Once the onions are caramelized, add the balsamic glaze to the pan. Then, mix and continue to caramelize for 1-2 minutes.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and let the caramelized onions cool.
  • Add the 0-fat Greek yogurt, Worcestershire sauce, remaining 1/4 teaspoon of salt, chopped chives, and cooled caramelized onions to a bowl. Thoroughly mix these ingredients. Transfer the dip to an airtight container and let it refrigerate for 1-2 hours before serving and enjoy!
