  • Olive Oil Spray: Lightly spray the pan with olive oil. We used this Misto Oil Sprayer.
  • Onion: Spray the pan with olive oil and saute the diced onion.
  • Garlic: Cook the garlic in the pan with the onions.
  • Turkey Breast: Use one pound of ground turkey breast in this chili recipe.
  • Seasoning: Season the turkey with salt and pepper.
  • Tomatoes: We used fire-roasted diced tomatoes in this chili.
  • Tomato Puree: To add more warm and delicious tomato flavor.
  • Spices: We added chili powder, smoked paprika, dried oregano, and ground cumin.
  • Beans: We used pinto beans, black beans, and white great northern beans in this recipe.

Which Tomatoes To Use For Chili?

Use one 28-ounce can of diced tomatoes in this recipe. You can use diced tomatoes, fire-roasted diced tomatoes, or crushed tomatoes.

I love the combination of black beans, pinto beans, and great northern beans in this chili recipe. Feel free to add 3 cans of your favorite beans. Or, if you prefer, you can use 3 cans of one kind of bean. Whatever combination you like or have on hand is going to be delicious.

Want More Heat In Your Chili?

If you want more heat in your turkey chili, add 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper. If you want a smoky flavor, add 1-2 teaspoons of chopped chipotles in adobo sauce.

How To Make Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Lightly spray a pan with olive oil and saute the diced onion. Then, add the garlic to the pan.

Next, season both sides of the ground turkey with salt and pepper. After that, add the ground turkey to the pan with the onions. Then, break it up with a spatula into small pieces and thoroughly cook it.

Once cooked, transfer everything in the pan to a slow cooker. We recommend this slow cooker because the coating is free of lead, PFAS, PFOA, and lead.

After that, also add the fire-roasted diced tomatoes, tomato puree, chili powder, smoked paprika, oregano, cumin, pinto beans, black beans, and white northern beans to the slow cooker. Then, mix all of the ingredients.

Yes, you can use a dutch oven or a large pot to saute the onions, garlic, and ground turkey until cooked. Then, add your tomatoes, spices, and beans. Let everything simmer on low for 2-4 hours and stir occasionally.

Ingredients 

  • olive oil spray
  • 1 medium brown onion
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 pound ground turkey breast, 99% fat-free
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1, 28 ounce can of fire-roasted diced tomatoes
  • 1, 28 ounce can of tomato puree
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 can of pinto beans
  • 1 can of black beans
  • 1 can of white great northern beans or kidney beans

Instructions 

  • Dice the onion. Then, lightly spray a pan with olive oil over medium heat on the stove. Let the onions cook for about 2-3 minutes and then add the garlic to the pan.
  • Lightly season the ground turkey breast on both sides with salt and pepper. Add the ground turkey to the pan with the onions. Break it up with a spatula into small pieces and cook until the turkey is thoroughly cooked. Transfer everything in the pan to a slow cooker.
  • Add the fire-roasted diced tomatoes, tomato puree, chili powder, smoked paprika, oregano, and cumin to the slow cooker. Then, rinse and drain all of the beans and add them to the slow cooker. Mix all of the ingredients.
  • Cook everything in the slow cooker on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 6-8 hours. This gives all of the chili flavors time to develop. Once done, add your toppings of choice and enjoy!
