What Are Lavash Crackers?

These lavash crackers are made using lavash flatbread. We cut the flatbread into small squares to form the crackers, seasoned them and baked them to crispy perfection. These crackers are low-carb and packed with flavor. They only have about five minutes of prep time and are such an easy and healthy cracker option! We used Joseph’s lavash flatbread rather than making our own lavash dough with flour and water to keep this recipe simple and easy.

Ingredients Needed

Ingredients for lavash crackers
  • Lavash Bread: Use two Joseph’s lavash bread flatbreads.
  • Olive Oil: Use olive oil spray so the crackers become crispy and the seasonings stick.
  • Garlic Powder: The garlic powder seasons these crackers and gives them flavor.
  • Onion Powder: The onion powder adds another layer of flavor.
  • Salt: Add salt to enhance the flavor and season the crackers.

How To Make Lavash Crackers

Step 1: Cut the lavash flatbreads into even-sized squares about 1 inch in size. First, cut the flatbreads in half. Then, stack them and cut them in half again.

After that, cut them into thirds and then into thirds again to form squares.

Step 2: Mix the garlic powder, onion powder, and salt in a bowl.

Step 3: Lightly spray a sheet pan with olive oil. Then, add a single layer of the cut lavash bread pieces to the sheet pan.

What To Serve With Lavash Crackers

There are so many ways to enjoy these lavash crackers! Here are some ideas on what to do with them:

  • Snack: Enjoy these crackers on their own as a delicious snack.
  • Dip: Serve them with your favorite dip. We love serving them with our cottage cheese dip, ranch dip, and white bean hummus.
  • Cheese: Enjoy them with Laughing Cow wedges, brie bites, or your favorite cheese.
  • Add To A Board: Add these crackers to a charcuterie board.

Expert Tips

  • Evenly Cut The Lavash: Cut the lavash flatbreads as evenly as possible so the crackers are the same size and cook at the same rate.
  • Season To Taste: Use your fingers to lightly and evenly season the crackers. You may have a bit of seasoning left over. Season the crackers to taste.
  • Bake In Batches: Don’t bake all the crackers at once. Instead, bake them in batches. Arrange them in a single layer on a sheet pan and don’t overcrowd them. They won’t become as crispy or cook evenly if there is not enough room.
  • Don’t Burn Them: Keep an eye on the crackers while they bake so they don’t burn. They should be golden brown, but not burnt.
  • Spray With Olive Oil: Remember to spray the baking sheet with olive oil so the crackers become crispy on the bottom. Also, spray the top with olive oil before sprinkling the seasonings over the top so they stick.

Storage Instructions

Store leftover lavash crackers in an airtight sealed bag, such as a Ziploc or stasher bag. Store them at room temperature and enjoy them for up to five days.

Variations

  • Ranch Flavor: If you want ranch-flavored crackers, omit the garlic powder and onion powder and use 1/4 teaspoon of dried ranch seasoning powder.
  • Garlic Flavor: For a stronger garlic flavor, omit the onion powder. Then, season the crackers with just garlic powder and salt. You can add another 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder to make up for the onion powder if desired.
  • Smoked Paprika: For a smoky flavor, add a small pinch of smoked paprika to your seasoning blend.
  • Add Spice: For a hint of spice, sprinkle some crushed red pepper flakes or a small pinch of ground cayenne pepper over top.
  • Taco Seasoning: You can season these crackers with your favorite taco seasoning or sprinkle some over top for added flavor.
  • Cheesy: Season these crackers with dried cheese powder for a cheesy flavor.
  • Everything Bagel Flavor: You can season them with everything bagel seasoning. Or, sprinkle sesame seeds over top.
  • Add Herbs: You can add fresh herbs such as a pinch of chopped rosemary or parsley. Or, use dried herbs such as dried basil or dried rosemary.
